Red Sox NationWhen Jerry Remy was sworn in as president of Red Sox Nation and the Red Sox won the 2007 World Championship, I was inspired to create this cartoon based on George Washington Crossing the Delaware by Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze. Visitors to this web site are invited to copy the cartoon, compliments of Smart Alice Web Design, for your personal use on your desktop. Not for sale or for any other use, or Major League Baseball will pitch a fit. |

NutcrackerYour credit cards are maxed out. You're up to your ears in a new round of useless junk. Suddenly you've gained ten more pounds. Happy Holidays! This is a variant of a Christmas card I sent last year. I photographed a nutcracker doll I own and used the warp tool in Photoshop to give him that cockeyed look. Dolls can be creepy. Just in time for Valentine's DayI went to the Rodin Museum in Philadelphia and took a photo of the sculpture The Lovers. It was in a glass case, creating lots of glare, in a very busy room with a lot of visual distraction in the background. To fix things, I used a white brush in Photoshop to paint out the background and faded it with the gradient tool. I created layer adjustments for light levels, color balance, and contrast. Last, I applied an anime texture in Screen mode to soften it. |
My goal was to emphasize the passionate subject with deeper contrasts, but also
to convey the fleeting illusion of it all with a gauzy unreality.
