Eye of the Storm Equine Rescue
Smart Alice Web Design & Photography supports Eye of the Storm Equine Rescue. Located in Stow, Massachusetts, Eye of the Storm is dedicated to saving the lives of horses who have been abused, neglected or abandoned. Nina Arbella and a small group of volunteers devote many hours each day to helping, learning about, and caring for several horses rescued from abandonment, abuse, or a miserable trip to the slaughterhouse.
Eye of the Storm provides information, advice, and a network of support for horses and their owners who need to know how to care for horses with special needs.
Eye of the Storm is designated 170(b)(1)(a)vi, a non profit organization for the prevention of cruelty to animals, under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code.
Jazz
Jazz came to Eye of the Storm because her elderly owners could no longer care for her. I adopted her and she now lives on a small farm in Harvard. Jazz has a condition known as heaves which is similar to asthma in humans. Her coughing and weezing were pretty bad when I adopted her in 2002. I felt the dust and debris in the barn irritated her lungs. I started keeping the barn door open all the time so she could be outside in her two-acre pasture as much as she liked. Today she rarely has breathing problems and is an exceptionally healthy 29-year-old mare.
